Buying a small number of products from China can be difficult for overseas customers.
Many Chinese marketplaces are designed mainly for local buyers. Product pages may be written in Chinese, sellers may not accept overseas payment methods, and international shipping may not be available directly.
AncientTao provides a personal sourcing service for customers who want to purchase one item or combine several products into one sourcing order.
What Is a China Sourcing Agent?
A China sourcing agent helps overseas customers communicate with Chinese sellers and purchase products locally.
Depending on the service, a sourcing agent may assist with:
- Confirming product information
- Communicating with sellers
- Purchasing approved products
- Receiving products in China
- Inspecting visible condition
- Combining multiple products
- Preparing international packaging
- Arranging international shipping
AncientTao focuses on personal and small-order sourcing rather than large-scale factory production or commercial import compliance.
We do not act as the manufacturer, customs authority, professional testing laboratory, or importer of record.
Who Is This Service For?
Our service may be suitable for customers who:
- Found a product on Taobao, Tmall, JD.com, 1688, Amazon, or AliExpress
- Have only a product image instead of a Chinese listing
- Cannot communicate easily with Chinese sellers
- Cannot use the seller’s available payment method
- Want to see the actual product before international shipping
- Want several Chinese products packed into one international shipment
- Prefer a clear cost breakdown instead of hidden product markups
Products may include tea ware, incense accessories, lacquerware, traditional gifts, home décor, stationery, craft products, and other legally shippable items.
Step 1: Submit a Product Link or Image
Send us:
- A product link
- A product image
- A short product description
- Required quantity
- Preferred color, size, model, or material
- Destination country
- Any special requirements
Submitting a request is free.
We review the request and confirm available product information with the Chinese seller.
Step 2: Receive a Transparent Quote
Before purchasing anything, we provide a Stage 1 quote showing:
- Actual product cost
- Estimated China domestic shipping
- Applicable sourcing service fee
Our sourcing service fee is based on the total product value within one sourcing order:
- Product value up to $100: $29.99
- Product value from $101 to $250: $44.99
- Product value from $251 to $500: $69.99
The same fee applies whether the sourcing order contains one item or several items.
Orders with a product value above $500 require an individual quote.
Step 3: We Purchase the Approved Products
After you review and pay the Stage 1 quote, we purchase the approved products on your behalf.
The Chinese seller ships the products to our receiving location in China.
Domestic delivery time depends on:
- Seller processing time
- Product availability
- Seller location
- Domestic carrier
- Public holidays
- Other local delays
We will contact you if the seller changes the price or the approved product becomes unavailable before purchase.
Step 4: Receiving and Visual Inspection
After the products arrive, we perform a basic visual inspection.
We may check:
- Product type
- Quantity
- Visible condition
- Color, size, or model when reasonably verifiable
- Included accessories
- Packaging condition
- Obvious differences from the approved listing
We then send you unedited photos or videos of the actual products received.
You review the inspection materials before the products are shipped internationally.
What Our Inspection Does Not Include
Our standard inspection is not:
- A laboratory material test
- A professional authenticity certification
- A technical performance test
- A product safety certification
- An electrical compliance test
- An expert appraisal
- A complete inspection of hidden internal components
We cannot guarantee that every hidden manufacturing defect will be detected through visual inspection.
What Happens If There Is a Visible Problem?
If we find visible damage, an incorrect item, an incorrect quantity, or another significant visible difference, we contact you before international shipping.
We can assist with requesting:
- A return
- An exchange
- A replacement
- A seller refund
The available solution depends on the seller’s return policy, return period, evidence requirements, and final decision.
Any seller-imposed return shipping or non-refundable costs will be explained before action is taken.
Step 5: Packing and International Shipping
After you approve the inspection results, we securely pack the products.
The international shipping cost is calculated using:
- Final packed weight
- Package dimensions
- Destination country and postal code
- Product category
- Selected shipping method
- Carrier requirements
You then receive a separate Stage 2 international shipping quote.
The package is dispatched after you approve and pay the shipping cost.
Why International Shipping Is Quoted Later
The final shipping cost cannot always be confirmed before the products arrive.
The seller’s listed product weight may not include:
- Product packaging
- Protective materials
- Reinforced cartons
- Bubble wrap
- Combined-order packaging
- Dimensional or volumetric weight
Calculating shipping after packing allows the quote to use the actual package weight and dimensions.
DDP and Duties-Paid Shipping
A tracked DDP or duties-paid method may be available for certain products and destinations.
When this option is available and selected, the written shipping quote will state that applicable import duties and taxes are included.
DDP describes how customs responsibilities and import costs are allocated. It does not guarantee that customs inspections, tracking gaps, or delivery delays cannot occur.
If a duties-paid route is unavailable, the recipient may need to pay duties, taxes, or carrier charges at the destination.
Transparent Pricing Without Hidden Product Markups
AncientTao separates the main costs of the sourcing order:
- Actual product cost
- China domestic shipping
- Sourcing service fee
- International shipping
You review the applicable costs before each payment.
We do not hide our service earnings by increasing the disclosed product price.
A Practical Way to Buy from China
A sourcing agent cannot eliminate every risk involved in purchasing products from third-party sellers.
However, local purchasing assistance, product receiving, visual inspection, transparent costs, and international shipping coordination can make the process easier to understand.
AncientTao is designed for overseas customers who want access to Chinese products without independently navigating Chinese marketplaces, seller communication, local payment, inspection, and international logistics.
